HILT therapy
HILT therapy is a high-intensity laser therapy method used for pain reduction, support of tissue recovery and functional rehabilitation. The procedure is adapted individually according to complaints, treatment area and therapy goals.

What is HILT therapy?
HILT, or high-intensity laser therapy, uses concentrated light energy directed to the treatment area. It may be used for muscle, tendon, ligament, joint and back pain conditions if the specialist considers it suitable after assessment.
During the procedure, the specialist selects the treatment mode, intensity and area. HILT therapy is often combined with therapeutic exercise, massage, decompression, SIS or other rehabilitation methods.
Purpose of therapy
- Reduce pain and local discomfort.
- Support tissue recovery and healing.
- Improve freedom of movement and functional ability.
- Complement rehabilitation for muscle, tendon and joint problems.
When may it be suitable?
- back, neck and joint pain
- muscle and tendon overload
- sports injuries and soft tissue injuries
- tendinopathies and ligament overload conditions
- movement limitations due to pain or tension
- rehabilitation support after injuries or overload
When is it not suitable or caution is needed?
- oncological disease or suspicion without medical assessment
- pregnancy — especially in the treatment area
- photosensitivity or medication increasing sensitivity to light
- pacemaker or other implanted electronic device
- active bleeding or recent tissue damage in the treatment area
- fever, acute infection or marked inflammation
- unsuitable skin condition, pigmentation or tattoo in the treatment area — after assessment
- eye area — laser exposure in this area is not allowed
Before the procedure, inform the specialist if you have:
How does the procedure work?
1. Assessment
The specialist discusses complaints, treatment area, contraindications and selects the appropriate treatment mode.
2. Preparation
The treatment area is freed from clothing or objects. If needed, skin condition and sensitivity are checked.
3. Laser application
The procedure is performed in a controlled way by moving the laser applicator over the treatment area. The patient should report any unpleasant sensation, burning or pain.
4. After the procedure
The specialist may recommend load management, exercises or a combination with other rehabilitation methods.
What should the patient know?
HILT therapy is not a universal procedure for every type of pain. It is selected after specialist assessment and works best as part of a broader rehabilitation plan — together with movement therapy, load control and other necessary measures.
Is HILT therapy suitable for you?
If you have back, joint, tendon or muscle pain, overload or sports injury, book a visit. A specialist will assess your condition and help choose the safest therapy plan.
